What is an Intranet?
An Intranet is a network of computers usually located inside a company. The Intranet enables employees or other authorized users to share information. Just about anything can be shared, ranging from a schedule or company policy and procedure manual, to complex computer programs which can perform a variety of tasks, from simple to complex.
What is an Extranet?
An Extranet is a buzzword which simply means an Intranet that allows password protected access to it from outside of the company. For instance, a sales person can log in to a company's Extranet using any computer any place in the world, as long as it is connected to the Internet.
